LOVE MAGIC
Rose water has been around forever, and it so good for your skin, but for us witches, it’s so good for spell work.
We can mist it on our sachets. We can use it to cleanse candles and tools for workings to bring in the magical properties, or we can use use it on our faces so we keep our natural magical glow.
This technique actually creates what’s called a hydrosol. A hydrosol is made for your skin and uses flowers or herbs, and you can make this water with dried ingredients too.
You’ll see posts about rose water that’s infused with essential oils, but that’s not a hydrosol. A hydrosol is really the water that remains after steam-distiling and this method produces a fragrant rose hydrosol.
What you will need:
- A clean pot with a lid that will sit on it upside down
- Water
- Rose petals – I always suggest organic. No need for pesticides in our magick
- A smaller bowl or ramekin that fits inside but leaves room around it for the petals
- Ice
The video below shows you how to do it. The ice on the lid is important, it’s the hot boiling water vapor that meets the cold ice that produces the most condensation and that’s essentially what we capture in the lid.
Storing:
Your rose water should keep in the refridgerator for a long time and if you research some will say up to a year.
I say keep an eye on it and watch for the growth of mold or fungus 😉 If it starts to smell funky, it’s gone bad.

Love Powder Recipe:
I make this powder to dress candles, fill sachets and container spells. I’ve put it under my pillow to enhance peaceful sleep, sprinkled it over my bed to get the feels started (I am a Capricorn. I am not romantic. Derwood deserves romance, so yes, I do this work to soften my own aspects. I’m just not a lovey dovey chick).
When I make powders or oils, or any blend, I focus and re-live emotions.
The work takes me into that emotion of feeling loved, feeling sexy and feeling wanted, even if I am the one wanting myself here – self love in all forms.
Each item I hand grind, which makes some folks crazy but I believe in the creation process. The smell. The texture. The work.
I bless each ingredient. I mix with intent. I blow my own breath over it. I love it.And not just Love Powder, but every single thing I create. Here is how I make my own Love Powder:
What you will need:
- mortar and pestle or grinder
- lavender buds
- rose buds
- dried and ground orange peel (see this to learn how to dry citrus zest: https://www.facebook.com/lynnem…/videos/10213538655140726/)
- Ground cinnamon
- Ground ginger
- Ground clove
- 1 drop of attraction or drawing oil. Here is a site with some recipes for you: http://intothesoul.com/spiritual-oils/
Take everything after you have it ground and mix in your mortar or a bowl. While mixing, focus on the emotion of feeling loved or being in love or how it felt the first time you fell in love.
Adjust the mixture until it smells the way YOU want it to.Place in a bottle with a cap.
You can use this powder to dress a pink candle for self love meditation. You can use it for a sachet to place under your pillow. You can use it to sprinkle on your man’s stuff to send some love.
You can put some in your hand and blow towards the four directions (north, south, east, west) to release a pull for someone to return soon.
Any sort of love work that you would use an oil for can essentially use this powder.
You can also mix this up and make an oil by adding it to a carrier oil with the property of the element of water and a little vitamin e oil to stabilize.
Carrier oils good for love and that correspond with water (emotions) are:
- Apricot oil
- Avocado oil
- Grapeseed oil
- Hemp Seed oil
